A Small Place in the Sun
Chapter 4
Changes
Part 3

Sandra didn't move, the look on the man's face had said far more then words. She disgusted him. She suddenly felt even smaller then she was now. It confused her as he inflamed her emotions between the anger she felt at what he had done to her, and her own shame, that she had kept locked up and pushed away deep in her mind for so long at the life she had chosen. Yet this man had brought it to the surface like blood seeping from a fresh wound.

George turned to Peggy. “Get me off o this counter, please.” With the adrenaline rush ebbing away, his left hand throbbed with pain from it's use in the fight. The bullets, although tiny, had still impacted the flesh with enough strength to cause bruising and now swelling. His neck now stung as well and he placed his right hand over the wound and applied pressure.

“Are you OK Geordie?” Kim asked, deciding that she could use his nickname too. “Damn but you have skills boy.”

“I'll be fine enough.” George said as Peggy picked him up and took him into the salon.

"Let's get those bullets out of you first." Peggy said. "Neil, get me a long bolt, a battery, and two wires from the engine room please."

"Sure thing." Neil said.

She set him down on the sofa and waited. When Neil returned, Peggy took the wires and wrapped them around the large bolt, and then placed the ends of each wire one at the positive end, and the other at the negative end of the battery. "This may hurt a little." She said as she brought the bolt down toward his outstretched hand.

George felt only a slight pain as the tiny bullets were quickly pulled from his palm by the improvised magnet. He smiled up at her as two tiny drops of oozing blood showed him the bullets had been pulled out. he pulled up his shirt and motioned for her to run the magnet over his back across the right side. And he felt the last bullet get pulled from his skin.

"Ya got them all." He said smiling up at her.

She smiled back and taking out the ray she shot him. He rapidly returned to his normal size. This time his eyes were open and he experienced the strange view as his eyes barely kept up with adjusting to stay focused as he grew back to normal.

“Oh God Geordie. You scared the hell out of me. Damn it, I need to get the medical case. Your neck is bleeding.” Peggy said, turning to retrieve the case.

“It isn't that bad Peg, I just need a cloth for now. Shrink yourself and take a look at the two men. Kim you keep her company, at your normal size, just in case.” George said.

“You know Geordie, we are really going to have to talk about that word, 'Normal' in the context of our country! Since normal is all in how you view things.” Peggy said as Kim shot her with the ray.

“I'm sorry, Peg, you're right, I will work on it.” George said smiling as he watched her dwindle in size. He got up and stepped outside. He looked down at the small boat on the deck. His world had truly changed, in many ways. He thought about what had just transpired. He had been small himself, looking up at Giants. Strangely, it had not been quite as bad as he had expected. But then, he was looking up at his friends, and he could see the concern, compassion, and indeed, their support glowing on their faces as they looked down at him. But that helpless feeling still nagged at him from when Peggy had held him in her hand. That was going to take some getting use to.

George came back inside and walked over to the galley and looked down at Peggy, now on the counter top and already going through her own examination of the two men. She looked up at him. “You did a great job on this one. And you are right, he is fine except for this bump you gave him. I'm more concerned about this other man.” She said pointing at Arturo.

“Well, all you can do is talk gently tae him, it may bring him around.” George said as he grabbed one of the dish towels and placed it on his neck, cleaning up the drying blood that had oozed down toward his shoulder and chest.

Sandra still sat where George had left her after the fight. She looked up at his wound with a smirk, taking some pleasure in the small triumph of wounding him. But her look changed to dread as his attention turned to her.

“Well, it's time tae have a look at your boat and it's cargo.” He said smiling down at her.

“I'm not going to open my boat for you.” Sandra said defiantly.

“Hey, that's fine. I have some tools and I'll just dismantle it myself.” He fished out the fine stiletto knife he had taken from her and pretended to look keenly at it. “This might just do the job itself.” He said smiling down at her.

“Nu... no, please, I'll open it up.” She said, hanging her head in resignation.

George went around the counter into the galley and brought out a black plastic trash bag. He then, without even asking, whisked the small woman off of her feet with his hand.

“HEY!” Sandra screamed, struggling within his grip. “You.. you could have asked first. You can't treat me this way!”

“I cant?” George asked. Suddenly surprised at his own impulsive action.

“No! I'm still... a... ah..” She looked at herself, wrapped within the grasp of a huge hand. He was being gentle, the pressure around her was light, yet his hand fully encompassed her body, touching her almost everywhere at once. It made her feel more then just helpless, she almost felt violated, and a blush of embarrassment came to her face.

“Were you going tae say “Human being'?” George asked, looking at her

“I.... dont know what I am now. I'm so small. I feel like..... like a toy doll.”

George said nothing in answer as he carried her out to her boat. He knelt beside it and set Sandra down in the cockpit and watched as she pressed a button which opened the mechanically operated sliding door into the cabin. Neil had followed the pair outside and he whistled as one of the now tiny burlap sacks of Marijuana slid out onto the cockpit floor in front of the tiny girl.

Before she could do anything, George picked up the tiny bag and brought it to his nose sniffing it. He looked up at Neil and handed him the bag.

“Man! If this was it's actual size, we could have one hell of a party with this. But at this size it would barely make one joint” He said in awe. But the broad smile left his face quickly as he saw George's frown.

“Och, I know it's only a wee vice in itself Neil. No much worse then alcohol. But it's still illegal, and the money from it's sale funds the Cartels, and helps them tae traffic in far worse then this.” George said, slowly nodding his head and giving Neil a weak smile. He put his hand out and Neil gave him the small bag. George placed the plastic bag neatly on the deck beside the boat and placed the bag of pot on it. He looked down at the young woman.

“You're going tae empty this boat of all of it's cargo. Do you understand me?” He asked, speaking slowly, trying to dampen his accent so there would be no misunderstanding. “See, I told ya I knew what you are!”

Sandra's eyes grew wide for a moment, but she nodded her head in answer.

“Good, then you will be throwin everything onto this bag here. If I find you have tried tae hide anything, or I think you are still hiding anything, I will tear this boat apart. So make sure I am satisfied.” George said frowning at her.

Sandra nodded again and turned to look at the bags. How was she going to do this? Those bags were heavy. She thought to herself. She sighed and grabbed a bag. She was surprised, it was far lighter then she had thought it would be. George noticed the look on her face as she stared at the bag.

“Looks like ya have finally discovered one o the secrets o bein small. For your size, you are stronger then ya are normally. And the volume of the bags is less now. So hurry it up. Ive no got the time tae sit here all night.” George said laughing.

“Alright! I'm hurrying.” She said flustered and annoyed. Sandra soon had all the bags out of the cabin. She stood, well she was actually bent over, there was no standing headroom in the cabin. She looked at the now clear sidewall and saw the RPK in it's rack. The weapon was a lengthened version of the AK47 assault rifle, developed as a light machine gun. It used a high capacity drum magazine which held seventy five rounds of ammunition. She had it on board as a last ditch weapon if they met difficulties. She thought about taking it down and shooting her captor and tormentor. Maybe if she hit him in the eye she could kill him. But then what?  The other giants would try to kill her. She had little chance of being restored then. She would just have to wait for a better opportunity.

She sighed, she didn't want her boat torn apart. Handing the gun over might earn her some points with her captors. She took off the magazine and holding it in one hand, she brought down the gun in the other and took them outside yelling as she came out. “Here! I am surrendering this.”

George actually recoiled back a little as he saw the tiny weapon. “Jesus!” He whispered as he brought his hand slowly toward the woman. “Just place that in my palm. And be sure I get all of the ammunition for this thing.” He said.

“I will” Sandra said.

“Thank... you... um... Look, my name is George, what is your name lass?” George suddenly asked. A small smile on his face.

“Sandra.” She answered, suddenly smiling a little herself and blushing. Only this time, she found herself really blushing at the man's gaze and interest in her, which surprised her. She quickly ducked back into the cabin and shook her head, clearing the thoughts that had suddenly crossed her mind. These people were her captors, her life was totally ruined now. Even if they let her go, Jesus Waldhern would want her dead now for losing this shipment. That is what George had meant when he said he would not hurt her, that he wouldn't have to. Her anger at the man returned quickly. Maybe she could find a way to contact Waldhern. If he found them and got their shrinking ray, that would more then make up for the lost shipment, and surely he would restore her to normal. Yet, was that really what she wanted? What would a man like Waldhern do with such technology? Would he be any better then these people? She found herself so confused as so many thoughts and emotions went through her mind.

“Are you alright Sandra? Hurry it up, I'm sure ya must be getting hungry.” George asked.

“I'm.. fine.” Sandra said, shaking her head again and quickly grabbing one of the cases and bringing it out to toss onto the plastic bag.

“What's this?” George asked, picking up the small case.

“Heroin.” Sandra said simply as she turned and went back to get another case. Soon she had emptied the cabin and she stood in the cockpit looking up at the two men expectantly.

“My God!” Neil exclaimed, looking at the pile of bags and cases. “There's Millions of dollars here George.”

“Aye, it's like we just took a Spanish treasure ship.” George said as he tried to peer into the tiny cabin, making sure it was empty. “What about under the berth there? And the sofas?” He asked Sandra.

“There are only two custom fuel tanks under the sofas, and the chain locker for the anchor is below the berth. It can't be accessed from here.” She said, going back inside and lifting the cushions to show him.

“Alright then.” George said as she came back outside. “Let's see if ya have anything else on board. Open the engine compartment, please.”

Sandra sighed and did as she was told. The engine compartment revealed only enough room for the two  large Supercharged V-8 engines. George ran a finger inside under the sides of the opening, just to make sure nothing had been taped or stowed up there.

“Well it looks like it's all clean now.” George said. “So I think you have earned.... Well, what about this lounge seat? Boats like this usually have storage under them as well!”

“It's just a lounge. It... it doesn't open.” Sandra said quickly.
Well the boat gets a going over, and Sandra has conflicting emotions.

For those wondering what an RPK is. Here is a picture of one.
